Youth Leadership Summit (YLS)

What: The NCCEP Youth Leadership Summit provides a high-quality, 3.5-day national-level interactive training experience and peer-to-peer learning opportunity for 9-12th grade high school students currently participating in GEAR UP programs.

This opportunity focuses on life, leadership, and learning-to-learn skills for students who will be encouraged to share their experience with their peers, schools, and communities.

When and Where: The 2019 Youth Leadership Summit takes place during the NCCEP/GEAR UP Annual Conference, July 14-17, 2019 in San Francisco, CA. 

Who: Washington State GEAR UP students in 9th-12th grade are eligible to apply to participate in this event. 

WSAC will select up to 4 students to attend. The final application packet must be submitted by May 3. All costs will be paid by WSAC to include:

  • Registration and travel for students and one chaperone per participating school.

  • One cultural/educational activity. 

To apply: Eligible students must complete the YLS form and write a minimum 150-word essay stating why they want to attend the 2019 Youth Leadership Summit. What do they hope to learn? How will they share the information with other students in their school?
