GEAR UP: Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs.

About GEAR UP

With the right approach, all students in Washington State can go to college.

At GEAR UP, we believe that young people who start planning in middle school have a better chance of entering college and completing their degrees. With 37 programs around the state of Washington, we focus on students from underserved schools, helping them to prepare for college and gain access to financial aid.

GEAR UP stands for Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs. We are a partnership of the Higher Education Coordinating Board, Office of the Governor, the University of Washington, College Success Foundation, and a number of national, state and local organizations.

What you can expect to make without higher education.
In 2005, the median income of a high school graduate or GED recipient was $24,435. That’s $16,699 less than they would have earned with a bachelor’s degree.
